In February, Bro. A. G. received his Entered Apprentice degree and in April was passed to the degree of Fellow Craft.
I am honoured to be a part of that team and am most impressed at the amount of ritual my colleagues have committed to memory, particularly those for whom English is not their first language. It looks like we’ll be kept busy in 2015 and beyond too; membership of 49 continues to grow with candidate proposals having been made at several meetings and balloting in May.
Prior to the establishment of the degree team, 49 had received great assistance from Brethren of other lodges. WBro P. S. and WBro. E. M. gave us cheerful, unstinting and word-perfect assistance with several degrees and we offer them our sincere gratitude.
It was with great sadness that we learned of the passing of another great friend of 49, and the man who gave me my EA degree, RWBro. S. G. We are all lessened by his passing and we offer our condolences to the family and friends of RWBro. G. S. and his late wife, L.
At our March communication, we were delighted to welcome the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, RWBro. G. B. It is always entertaining to observe the banter between the WM and DPGM when the maul is offered. At such times I am always reminded of the fellowship and harmony that underpin our organisation.
Before I close, I’d like to wish our own WBro W. F. a speedy recovery from his recent illness.
Oh, and one last thing: If I remember correctly, the Travelling Gavel is currently with Lodge 228. For my own part, I have been remiss in my travelling and visits thus far in 2015 but I intend to remedy that. It is on that note that I put 228 on notice that they can expect a substantial pilgrimage of 49’ers in the very near future - all in Peace, Love and Harmony, of course!
In addition to the above article, the Webmaster wishes to add, that in our last communication Bro. A. G. was raised to the sublime degree of M∴M∴ and our planned E∴A∴ will take place after the summer recess at our September labour.
And finally, the most important addition:
